📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
Cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) human resource management systems offer significant efficiency gains for Nigerian organisations, yet adoption is uneven and the contextual factors shaping uptake in Nigerian HR environments remain poorly understood. This study evaluates SaaS HR management system adoption among organisations in Lagos, Ibadan, and Abuja, representing three geopolitical zones with high corporate concentrations. A quantitative survey administered to 45 HR managers and IT directors at organisations with 100 or more employees assesses adoption drivers, perceived benefits, and implementation barriers. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) is applied to measure perceived usefulness, ease of use, and adoption intention. Findings show that payroll accuracy, self-service functionality, and leave management automation are the most highly valued SaaS HR features, while data privacy concerns, customisation limitations, and subscription cost structures are the leading adoption barriers. Organisations in the financial services and fast-moving consumer goods sectors report higher adoption rates than public sector and educational institutions. Professional recommendations include vendor-negotiated data residency agreements for Nigerian client data and graduated pricing models for SME and non-profit organisations. This study provides a context-specific evaluation of SaaS HR adoption that extends the TAM literature to the Nigerian organisational environment.
