📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
The integration of structured health education into corporate wellness programmes is an emerging area of professional practice that holds significant potential for reducing non-communicable disease burden among Nigeria's formal workforce. This study assessed the extent of health education integration in corporate wellness programmes among selected organisations in Lagos State, South West Nigeria. A descriptive survey was conducted with 200 human resource managers and employee health coordinators from 40 large organisations in Lagos Island, Victoria Island, and Ikeja districts. A structured questionnaire assessed the scope, frequency, and quality of health education activities within existing wellness frameworks. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and Pearson's chi-square. Results showed that 55 percent of organisations had wellness programmes, yet fewer than half incorporated structured health education sessions delivered by qualified professionals. Common offerings were limited to annual medical check-ups and informational health posters. Organisations with full-time health educators reported higher employee participation in wellness activities and lower absenteeism rates. Budget constraints and lack of awareness of the health educator's professional role were identified as primary barriers. The study recommended that Nigerian companies adopt standardised health education frameworks within wellness programmes and engage certified health educators as programme coordinators.
