📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
This study investigated the effect of peer teaching on students performance in Office Practice in senior secondary schools in Ondo State, South West Nigeria. Office Practice remains one of the foundational courses in Business Education at the secondary school level, equipping students with skills in filing, reception, office communication, and records management. Despite its practical importance, student performance in this subject has remained consistently below expectations in Ondo State. Peer teaching, as a cooperative learning strategy, has shown promise in improving academic outcomes in various subjects, but its effect on Office Practice has not been adequately explored. A quasi-experimental design using a pretest-posttest control group structure was adopted. The population comprised 1,200 SS2 Business Education students in six public secondary schools across Ondo Central senatorial district. Ninety-six students were selected through purposive and simple random sampling, divided into experimental and control groups. The Business Education Performance Test, with a reliability coefficient of 0.82, was used for data collection. Analysis of Covariance was used to test the hypotheses at a 0.05 level of significance. Results show that students in the peer teaching group significantly outperformed those in the conventional teaching group. The study recommends the formal adoption of peer teaching as a supplementary instructional strategy in Ondo State public schools.
