Adequacy of Library Resources for Supporting Agricultural Research in Kebbi State College of Agriculture Zuru

This study evaluated the adequacy of library resources available to support agricultural research at Kebbi State College of Agriculture, Zuru, in Kebbi State, North West Nigeria. Agricultural colleges in Nigeria are expected to provide research-oriented library collections that keep pace with developments in agronomy, animal science, and rural extension. A descriptive survey design was adopted, and data were collected from 150 students and 20 academic staff through a structured questionnaire and an observation schedule. Findings revealed that the library's periodical collection was outdated, most agricultural journals were more than five years old, and access to electronic databases was non-existent due to inadequate ICT infrastructure. The library also lacked relevant government agricultural policy documents and extension manuals. Staff recommended urgent collaboration with international agricultural research bodies for resource donation and networking. The study concluded that the current state of library resources was insufficient to support the institution's stated research mandate and recommended immediate remedial investments.
