Analysis of E-Learning Adoption Patterns Among University Students in Ogun State During the Post-COVID Period

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated e-learning adoption in Nigerian universities, and understanding the usage patterns and satisfaction drivers that persist in the post-pandemic period is valuable for optimising digital education delivery. This study analysed e-learning adoption and usage data from 960 undergraduate students at three universities in Ogun State, South West Nigeria, including Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Olabisi Onabanjo University, and Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology. A structured questionnaire collected data on platform usage frequency, preferred content formats, connectivity satisfaction, digital skill levels, and perceived learning effectiveness. Descriptive analysis, factor analysis, and logistic regression were applied. Four underlying factors were extracted: technical access quality, pedagogical design satisfaction, peer interaction quality, and self-regulation capacity. Logistic regression showed that technical access quality and self-regulation capacity were the strongest positive predictors of continued e-learning adoption. Students in private universities demonstrated higher adoption rates, attributed to better institutional infrastructure. Internet connectivity constraints affected 68.3 percent of respondents, reducing effectiveness for off-campus users. Lecture recordings were the most preferred content format, followed by live interactive sessions. Only 31.2 percent found online assessment platforms reliable. Recommendations include institutional investment in adaptive streaming infrastructure, training faculty in interactive content design, establishing campus-based digital learning support centres, and advocating with national internet service providers for affordable broadband solutions for student communities in Ogun State.
