📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
This study assesses the management of information and communication technology infrastructure in public secondary schools in Oyo State, South West Nigeria. Government and private sector investment in ICT equipment for Nigerian secondary schools has grown in recent years, yet the management of these assets, including maintenance, staffing, scheduling, and security, remains poorly organised in many institutions. The study employs a descriptive survey design, targeting 250 principals, ICT coordinators, and teachers from schools in Ibadan North, Ogbomosho North, and Iseyin local government areas. Data were collected using an ICT infrastructure management effectiveness checklist and a structured interview guide. Descriptive statistics and chi-square analysis were applied. The study draws on Information Systems Management Theory and Asset Management Principles in Education. It examines the availability of functional equipment, maintenance protocols, trained ICT staff, access scheduling policies, and security arrangements as indicators of management quality. Findings are anticipated to reveal widespread gaps in maintenance culture, ICT coordinator capacity, and equipment access equity across the sampled schools. The impact of management quality on actual teacher and student utilisation rates is also assessed. Recommendations address the Oyo State Secondary Education Management Board on developing a comprehensive ICT asset management policy, training school-level ICT managers, and establishing maintenance service level agreements with technology vendors.
