📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
This study investigates the relationship between branding strategies and customer loyalty in the Nigerian fast-food industry, with specific reference to selected fast-food outlets in Abuja, North Central Nigeria. The fast-food sector has experienced remarkable expansion in Nigerian urban centres, driven by changing lifestyles, urbanisation, and rising disposable incomes. However, competition among domestic and international chains has intensified, making brand differentiation and customer retention critical concerns for operators. This research adopts a descriptive survey design and targets customers of three leading fast-food brands operating in the Federal Capital Territory. A sample of 280 respondents was drawn using convenience sampling, and data were collected through a structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and regression analysis serve as the primary analytical tools. The study evaluates branding dimensions including brand identity, brand image, and brand communication, and assesses their combined effect on customer loyalty measured through repeat patronage and willingness to recommend. Early findings suggest that consistent brand identity and responsive service quality are the strongest predictors of loyalty in this context. The research also highlights generational differences in brand perception, noting that younger consumers place higher value on aesthetic branding elements. Outcomes will assist fast-food marketers in prioritising branding investments that yield the highest loyalty returns. The study adds to the localised literature on service marketing and brand management in emerging African markets. Keywords: branding, customer loyalty, fast-food, Abuja, brand identity
