📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
Client satisfaction is a key performance indicator in professional service delivery, yet the degree to which private residential clients in Nigeria are satisfied with quantity surveying services remains underexplored. This study evaluates client satisfaction with quantity surveying services in private residential construction projects in Abuja, focusing on the Gwarinpa, Maitama, and Kubwa districts. A survey design was employed, and 95 clients who engaged quantity surveying consultants for residential projects between 2021 and 2024 were purposively sampled. Data were collected via structured questionnaires and analysed using mean scores and gap analysis. Findings reveal that clients express moderate satisfaction with cost estimation accuracy and tender documentation but report lower satisfaction with post-contract cost monitoring, communication frequency, and final account preparation timeliness. The study identifies a recurring gap between client expectations and delivered service quality in areas of progress valuation and variation management. Recommendations include the adoption of client feedback mechanisms as a routine professional obligation, investment in digital client-portal platforms that provide real-time cost reporting, and improvements in interpersonal communication training for practising surveyors. Professional bodies are advised to introduce a service quality charter for quantity surveying consultancies in Nigeria. This research contributes to the limited literature on service quality within the Nigerian built environment professions. Keywords: client satisfaction, quantity surveying services, residential projects, Abuja, service quality
