📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
Information technology has transformed human resources management processes globally, and examining its impact at Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc, Lagos State, South West Nigeria, provides evidence for HR technology adoption strategy in the Nigerian food manufacturing sector. This study examined the impact of HR information technology adoption on human resources management efficiency and effectiveness at Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc in Lagos. Data were collected from 150 HR professionals and line managers through structured questionnaires. IT tools assessed included Human Resources Information Systems, payroll automation, e-recruitment platforms, performance management software, and employee self-service portals. HR efficiency was measured by processing time for payroll, recruitment cycle time, and HR query resolution speed. HR effectiveness was assessed by employee satisfaction with HR services, data accuracy, and HR contribution to strategic decisions. Regression analysis was employed. Results showed that HRIS adoption significantly reduced payroll processing time by 68% and recruitment cycle time by 41%. Data accuracy improved markedly with automation (from 73% to 96% accuracy on key records). Employee self-service portals reduced HR administrative queries by 55%, freeing HR capacity for strategic activities. However, technology adoption was hampered by user resistance in 34% of cases and system integration challenges at 28% of departments. The study concludes that IT adoption has significantly improved HR management at Flour Mills of Nigeria and recommends change management training alongside technology rollouts to address resistance.
