Factors Influencing Successful Completion of World Bank Agricultural Projects in Kebbi State, North West Nigeria

Agricultural development projects funded by the World Bank are critical to food security in North West Nigeria, yet completion rates and sustainability remain inconsistent. This study identifies factors influencing the successful completion of World Bank agricultural projects in Kebbi State. A descriptive survey will recruit 160 Ministry of Agriculture project officers, World Bank project coordinators, farmers' cooperative representatives, and extension workers from four ongoing and recently completed projects in Birnin Kebbi and Argungu. A structured questionnaire will assess project planning quality, farmer participation levels, technology transfer effectiveness, climate adaptation considerations, and monitoring frequency. Descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression will identify success predictors. Literature from North West Nigeria's agricultural sector highlights limited beneficiary participation in project design, insufficient extension worker training, and post-harvest logistics gaps as recurring obstacles to project sustainability. Findings will inform the Kebbi State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority and World Bank Nigeria office in designing more contextually responsive project implementation frameworks.
