📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
This study examined the impact of information and communication technology integration on the teaching effectiveness of Business Education teachers in senior secondary schools in Rivers State, South South Nigeria. The global shift toward digital pedagogy has necessitated the incorporation of ICT tools in classroom instruction. In Rivers State, while some schools have benefited from government-sponsored ICT infrastructure, many Business Education teachers remain underequipped to leverage these tools effectively. This study sought to determine the extent to which ICT use enhances teacher effectiveness in delivering Business Education content. A descriptive survey design was employed. The population consisted of 210 Business Education teachers in public senior secondary schools across three senatorial districts in Rivers State. One hundred and five teachers were selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire validated by experts in Educational Technology and Business Education. Mean and standard deviation were computed to answer the research questions, while chi-square was used to test the hypotheses. The results show that ICT integration significantly improves lesson delivery clarity and student engagement. However, epileptic power supply and limited access to functional digital devices remain critical barriers. The study recommends that the Rivers State Government should partner with telecommunications companies to provide solar-powered ICT infrastructure in public schools, while also mandating annual ICT proficiency training for all Business Education teachers.
