📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
This study examines classified information management practices in the administrative offices of selected Nigerian Army barracks in Kaduna State, within Nigeria's North West geopolitical zone. The management of classified defence information is governed by strict statutory frameworks and international security protocols, yet academic appraisals of compliance and operational effectiveness in the Nigerian military administrative context remain limited. Using a professional descriptive design, the study targets army administrative officers (non-combat personnel) authorised to manage classified records in three barracks. Structured questionnaires and security audit checklists form the primary data collection instruments. The Official Secrets Act, the Nigerian Army Records Management Directive, and international classified information management standards provide the professional framework, with literature from 2020 to 2024 on military information governance informing the study. Dimensions examined include classification authority adherence, storage security protocols, access control records, and disposal procedures. The study also investigates training adequacy for classified information handling. Recommendations target the Nigerian Army Records and Archives Office and the Defence Intelligence Agency's administrative security directorate.
