Office Management Practices and Organisational Effectiveness in Selected Non-Profit Organisations in Abuja

📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW

This study evaluates office management practices and their relationship to organisational effectiveness in selected non-profit organisations in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. Non-profit organisations in Nigeria operate under growing pressure from donors and regulatory authorities to demonstrate administrative efficiency and accountability, making professional office management increasingly critical to their sustainability. The research adopts a professional application framework, targeting office managers, administrative officers, and executive directors in fifteen registered non-profit organisations in Abuja. Data are gathered through structured questionnaires and organisational effectiveness assessment inventories. The Organisational Effectiveness Model and the Administrative Management Theory provide the theoretical framework, supported by literature from 2020 to 2024 on non-profit administration in Nigeria. Dimensions examined include workflow organisation, resource allocation, communication systems, administrative procedure standardisation, and reporting quality. The study also assesses the impact of ICT adoption on non-profit office management effectiveness. Recommendations are directed at non-profit boards, the Corporate Affairs Commission, and donor organisations providing capacity building support. Keywords: office management, non-profit organisations, organisational effectiveness, Abuja, administrative practice
