📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
This study examined the relationship between study habits and academic achievement of Business Education students at Enugu State University of Science and Technology, South East Nigeria. Effective study habits are widely acknowledged as strong predictors of academic success, yet research specific to Business Education students in Nigerian universities remains limited. This gap is particularly relevant in the South East, where institutions are experiencing increasing student enrollment without a corresponding improvement in academic outcomes. A correlational survey design was adopted for the study. The population comprised 410 undergraduate Business Education students across 200 and 300 level programmes. A sample of 200 students was selected using stratified random sampling. The Study Habits Inventory and students Cumulative Grade Point Averages were used as instruments for data collection. Pearson Product Moment Correlation and simple linear regression were employed to analyze the data and test the hypotheses at a 0.05 significance level. Findings reveal a significant positive relationship between effective study habits and academic achievement. Students who engaged in regular reading, group study sessions, and organized note-taking recorded higher CGPAs. The study recommends that the university Student Affairs Division should collaborate with the Business Education department to establish a structured study skills workshop for freshmen, and that academic mentorship programmes should be institutionalized to guide students on effective learning strategies throughout their undergraduate studies.
