📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
This study investigates the utilisation of information and communication technology in Home Economics instruction among lecturers in Colleges of Education in Anambra State, South East Nigeria. The integration of ICT in instruction has become imperative in contemporary higher education, enabling more interactive, resource-rich, and student-centred pedagogical approaches. The study employs a descriptive survey design, targeting Home Economics lecturers in Nwafor Orizu College of Education Nsugbe and Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education Owerri. Data were collected from 90 lecturers using a structured questionnaire. Objectives include assessing the types and frequency of ICT tools utilised, identifying barriers to ICT adoption in instruction, and determining the influence of ICT use on student engagement levels. Recent literature confirms that many Home Economics lecturers in Nigerian Colleges of Education lack both the equipment and the technical competence required for effective ICT integration into classroom instruction. Data were analysed using frequency tables, mean scores, and Pearson correlation. The Technology Acceptance Model provides the theoretical framework, linking perceived usefulness and ease of use to ICT adoption behaviour. Findings are anticipated to reveal low ICT utilisation rates largely attributable to infrastructure deficits and insufficient digital literacy training. Recommendations target the National Commission for Colleges of Education, institutional management, and the Universal Basic Education Commission regarding ICT infrastructure investments and lecturer training. Keywords: ICT utilisation, Home Economics instruction, Colleges of Education, digital literacy, Anambra State.
