📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
This study assesses the level of information and communication technology integration in technical education delivery in secondary schools in Kaduna State, North West Nigeria. As digital transformation reshapes global labour markets, the integration of ICT into vocational and technical education is increasingly critical for producing industry-relevant graduates. Despite policy provisions under the National Policy on Education, many technical schools in Kaduna operate without functional computer laboratories or internet access. The study adopts a descriptive survey design, with 180 technical teachers and 20 school administrators across 30 schools in Kaduna North, Kaduna South, and Igabi local government areas. A researcher-designed questionnaire measures ICT availability, teacher ICT competence, and perceived barriers to integration. Observation checklists are also used to validate infrastructure claims. Data are analysed using frequency distribution tables and mean scores. Results are expected to show low ICT integration levels, driven by inadequate hardware, epileptic power supply, limited bandwidth, and insufficient teacher training. The study also explores the relationship between ICT integration and student engagement in technical subjects. Recommendations include targeted ICT training for technical teachers, solar-powered school laboratory projects, and curriculum updates that embed digital skills across vocational trade areas. Findings will be useful for state education ministries, curriculum planners, and development organisations working on educational technology in northern Nigeria. Keywords: ICT integration, technical education, Kaduna State, digital skills, vocational schools
