📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
Curriculum differentiation for diverse learners in inclusive secondary school classrooms is a professional competency that North Central Nigerian schools are largely unprepared to practise, and a structured framework for differentiation in the specific context of inclusive education in the zone addresses a critical systemic gap. This study developed a curriculum differentiation framework for inclusive secondary schools in Kogi, Kwara, and Benue States, North Central Nigeria. A professional framework development methodology was applied, drawing on review of Universal Design for Learning principles, UNICEF inclusive education guidelines, and structured consultations with 18 special education specialists, 12 classroom teachers with inclusive classroom experience, and 6 school principals. Assessment of current differentiation practice confirmed that tiered instruction, flexible grouping, and multiple means of representation were used in fewer than 12.0 percent of observed inclusive classrooms. The framework developed specifies differentiation principles across four instructional dimensions: content, process, product, and learning environment. Practical implementation guides for each dimension include ready-to-use templates and examples for core subjects. Teacher training component requirements and school administrative enabling conditions are specified. Expert review by ten inclusive education and curriculum specialists confirmed the framework's contextual appropriateness for the North Central Nigerian school environment. The study recommends the framework be piloted in 15 government secondary schools across the three states with inclusive education units and evaluated over two academic sessions.
