📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
This study investigates the application of information and communication technology tools in human resource management functions within federal polytechnics in Ogun State, South West Nigeria. Human resource management in educational institutions encompasses recruitment, staff training records, payroll administration, and performance appraisal, all of which can be enhanced through digital systems. A descriptive survey design was employed, sampling 80 human resource personnel and academic managers from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere, and Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade. A validated questionnaire assessed adoption levels of HR information systems, perceived benefits, and implementation challenges. Data were analysed using frequency tables and mean scores. Findings indicate moderate adoption of ICT in payroll and staff records management but low adoption in performance appraisal and training needs analysis functions. Resistance from long-serving HR staff, inadequate training, and vendor reliability concerns are the principal challenges reported. The study recommends that federal polytechnics in Ogun State invest in integrated HR management software, provide targeted digital training for HR personnel, and establish institutional data governance policies to ensure compliance and data security.
