📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
The adoption of digital project management tools is transforming project planning, coordination, and monitoring globally, yet uptake among Nigerian consulting engineering firms remains uneven. This study assesses the adoption and utilization of digital project management tools in consulting engineering firms in Ibadan, Oyo State, South West Nigeria. A cross-sectional survey will recruit 170 project engineers, project managers, and IT coordinators from 20 registered consulting engineering firms in Ibadan. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) will frame adoption assessment across perceived usefulness, ease of use, and actual usage dimensions. Specific tools including Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, and collaborative platforms will be evaluated. Descriptive statistics and logistic regression will identify predictors of tool adoption. Evidence from Nigerian engineering practice suggests that spreadsheet-based management remains dominant, with limited adoption of specialized PM software due to cost barriers and training gaps. Findings will support tool adoption programs and inform professional development policies for the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ibadan chapter.
