📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
This study investigates the influence of perceived organisational support (POS) on administrative staff retention in selected telecommunications companies in Nigeria, with evidence from companies operating in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt. High turnover among administrative professionals in Nigeria's telecommunications sector represents a significant human resource management challenge, imposing recruitment costs, institutional knowledge loss, and service continuity risks. The research employs a quantitative correlational design, targeting administrative staff with between one and five years of tenure in five telecommunications companies. A validated perceived organisational support scale and a staff retention intention measure are administered to 290 respondents. Path analysis and binary logistic regression are used to test the hypothesised POS-retention relationship. The Social Exchange Theory and the Organisational Support Theory provide the theoretical framework, supported by literature from 2021 to 2024 on staff retention in Nigerian corporate environments. POS dimensions examined include fairness of rewards, supervisory support, career development investment, and welfare provision. Findings are expected to demonstrate that supervisory support and career development POS dimensions are the strongest retention predictors. Recommendations target telecommunications HR directors and the Nigerian Communications Commission. Keywords: organisational support, staff retention, administrative staff, telecommunications, Nigeria
