📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
This study examines the management practices associated with e-learning implementation in public secondary schools in Akwa Ibom State, South South Nigeria. Effective management is central to the sustainability of technology-driven educational initiatives, yet many Nigerian schools adopt e-learning tools without adequate managerial frameworks. The study employs a descriptive survey design, selecting 60 school principals and ICT coordinators from 30 public secondary schools across Uyo, Eket, and Abak educational zones through purposive sampling. A validated Management of E-Learning Scale assessed planning, resource allocation, staff coordination, and monitoring practices. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation. Findings reveal inadequate planning frameworks, poor inter-departmental coordination, and absence of structured monitoring mechanisms in most schools. Schools with dedicated ICT coordinators demonstrated significantly better management scores. Budgetary constraints and principal resistance to technology change were identified as critical managerial barriers. The study concludes that e-learning management in Akwa Ibom public secondary schools requires structured administrative frameworks, leadership training for principals, and accountability mechanisms linked to school performance appraisals. Policy recommendations are directed to the State Secondary Education Management Board.
