Retrograde condensate loss below the dew point pressure is an irreversible reduction in reservoir liquid hydrocarbon inventory that has significant commercial consequences in the gas condensate fields of the Western Niger Delta. This study professionally reviews the available enhanced condensate recovery technologies and assesses their applicability to mature retrograde condensate reservoirs in the offshore Western Niger Delta region. Four primary enhanced condensate recovery approaches are evaluated: gas cycling above dew point, enriched gas injection to achieve near-miscible displacement, dry gas or nitrogen injection for vaporisation of banked condensate, and solvent huff-and-puff stimulation for near-wellbore condensate banking removal. Each technology is reviewed against the specific reservoir conditions characteristic of mature Western Niger Delta gas condensate accumulations, including reservoir depth range of 2,800 to 4,500 metres, current reservoir pressures 400 to 1,200 psi below initial dew points, formation permeability of 50 to 250 millidarcy, and reservoir temperatures of 165 to 210 degrees Fahrenheit. Screening criteria tables are developed to match technology applicability with reservoir parameter ranges. A technical and economic ranking exercise using a weighted decision matrix identifies enriched gas injection and solvent huff-and-puff as the highest-ranked options for reservoirs currently operating with severe condensate banking. Laboratory minimum miscibility pressure determination experiments are identified as the critical data gap requiring resolution before field implementation.
