📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
This study examines the utilisation of learning management systems in corporate training programmes within telecommunications companies in Lagos, South West Nigeria. The corporate learning landscape has been significantly transformed by digital training platforms, and the telecommunications sector, as a technology-intensive industry, is expected to be among the early adopters of LMS-based staff development. A descriptive survey design was adopted with a sample of 100 training managers and human resource professionals from MTN Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria, and Glo Mobile offices in Lagos. A validated questionnaire assessed LMS adoption rates, training content categories, effectiveness perceptions, and challenges. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics. Findings show widespread adoption of Moodle and proprietary LMS platforms for product knowledge and customer service training but limited use for leadership development and compliance training. Frequent platform performance issues, low learner engagement with self-paced modules, and absence of learning analytics utilisation are key challenges. The study recommends that telecommunications companies invest in LMS customisation aligned with their training culture, implement gamification elements to boost learner engagement, and train their L&D teams in interpreting learning analytics for continuous programme improvement. Keywords: learning management systems, corporate training, telecommunications, Lagos, LMS utilisation
