📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
This study investigates the utilisation of open educational resources by technical education teachers in secondary schools in Bauchi State, North East Nigeria. Open educational resources represent a cost-effective mechanism for improving instructional quality, particularly in resource-constrained environments. Despite the increasing availability of freely accessible digital learning materials, many technical teachers in Bauchi remain unaware of or unable to effectively use these resources. A descriptive survey design is adopted, drawing 160 technical and vocational education teachers from 25 secondary schools and technical colleges in Bauchi, Dass, and Tafawa Balewa local government areas. A researcher-designed questionnaire measures awareness, access, and frequency of open educational resource use, as well as perceived barriers. Descriptive statistics and chi-square tests are used for analysis. Findings are expected to show low awareness and underutilisation, driven by poor internet connectivity, limited digital literacy, and absence of institutional policies promoting digital resource use. The study examines whether teacher age, qualification, and school type moderate utilisation patterns. Recommendations include structured digital literacy training for technical teachers, provision of data access subsidies, and institutional policies mandating integration of open educational resources into lesson planning. This study contributes to the literature on digital resource adoption in Nigerian technical education and provides a practical foundation for education technology policy in Bauchi State and the broader North East geopolitical zone. Keywords: open educational resources, technical teachers, Bauchi State, digital learning, vocational education
