Academic support systems in Nigerian universities are often limited to formal lecture settings, leaving many students without access to supplementary tutoring. This study designs a peer-to-peer tutoring platform for undergraduate students at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, South West Nigeria. The platform was developed using Vue.js and a Firebase backend, enabling real-time communication between tutors and learners. The research methodology follows the design science framework, incorporating user requirements gathered through focus groups with 30 students and 10 faculty advisers. Key features include tutor profile matching by course and academic level, live video sessions via WebRTC, a rating and feedback system, and a session scheduling calendar. Usability evaluation was conducted over four weeks with 100 student participants across five departments. Findings show a 41 percent improvement in self-reported academic confidence among participants who used peer tutoring sessions and a 28 percent increase in assignment submission rates. The research identifies reluctance among high-performing students to tutor peers as a social barrier, addressed through a gamified incentive system awarding academic credits. The platform positions peer learning as a scalable, cost-effective academic support model replicable across Nigerian university campuses.
