📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
This study examines the impact of leadership style on the performance of administrative staff in Ogun State Polytechnic, Igbesa, within Nigeria's South West geopolitical zone. Leadership behaviour in academic institutions significantly influences staff morale, commitment, and productivity, yet empirical attention to administrative staff performance as a function of leadership in Nigerian polytechnics remains limited. Using a correlational survey design, the study targets administrative officers, secretarial staff, registry personnel, and heads of administrative units. Structured questionnaires adapted from the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) and validated performance scales are used for data collection. The Transformational-Transactional Leadership Theory provides the theoretical foundation, supported by literature from 2021 to 2024 on leadership and performance in Nigerian tertiary education. The study measures transformational (inspiration, vision-setting, individualised consideration) and transactional (reward and corrective action) leadership behaviours, correlating them with administrative output measures. Recommendations target the Ogun State Polytechnic Governing Council and the institution's management. Keywords: leadership style, administrative performance, polytechnic, Ogun State, organisational behaviour
