Pharmaceutical inventory mismanagement in Nigerian retail pharmacies contributes to drug stockouts, expiry losses, and regulatory non-compliance. This project implements an inventory management system for pharmaceutical retailers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The system was developed using Java Spring Boot and a MySQL database, with a lightweight web interface compatible with standard pharmacy point-of-sale hardware. The research adopts the waterfall development model, appropriate for the compliance-sensitive healthcare retail context. Core modules include stock receipt logging, FIFO expiry tracking, reorder alerts, supplier management, and NAFDAC regulatory reporting templates. Evaluation was conducted over eight weeks at five licensed pharmacies in Wuse, Garki, and Maitama districts, involving 18 pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Results show a 58 percent reduction in expired drug write-offs and full NAFDAC compliance achievement during the pilot period. The study identifies integration with the national drug traceability system as a critical future requirement and recommends API development for that interface. Security measures including role-based access and audit logging were validated during the testing phase. This research contributes a cost-effective inventory solution that can be adapted for pharmacies across Nigeria's urban centres, supporting medication safety and supply chain integrity.
