Information Management Practices and Organisational Memory in Anambra State Broadcasting Service

This study examines information management practices and their contribution to organisational memory in the Anambra State Broadcasting Service (ABS), located in the South East geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Broadcast organisations accumulate extensive audio-visual and administrative records over time, yet the systematic management of this information as an organisational resource remains inconsistently practised. The research adopts a case study design, targeting information officers, administrative staff, library and archive personnel, and heads of broadcasting departments within ABS. Data collection instruments include structured questionnaires, documentary analysis guides, and observation checklists. The Knowledge Management Theory and the Organisational Memory Framework serve as theoretical anchors, with literature from 2020 to 2024 providing contextual grounding. The study investigates how information is captured, stored, shared, and retrieved within ABS, with specific attention to gaps in institutional memory arising from staff turnover and poor documentation practices. It also assesses the role of digital tools in preserving and transmitting organisational knowledge. Recommendations are aimed at ABS management and the Anambra State Ministry of Information.
