Impact of Organisational Culture on Records Management Efficiency in Kebbi State Agricultural Development Programme

📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW

This research investigates the impact of organisational culture on records management efficiency in the Kebbi State Agricultural Development Programme (KADP), located in Nigeria's North West geopolitical zone. Organisational culture, encompassing shared values, assumptions, and behavioural norms, shapes how employees perceive and execute administrative responsibilities, including the creation, storage, and retrieval of records. The study adopts a descriptive survey design, targeting records officers, programme administrators, and departmental heads within KADP. Data are collected through structured questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with key informants. The Cultural Dimensions Theory and the Competing Values Framework provide the theoretical grounding, with literature from 2020 to 2024 on public sector records management in Nigeria informing the analysis. The study measures cultural dimensions including power distance, innovation orientation, and transparency norms, correlating them with records management outcome indicators. The specific influence of informal norms and leadership behaviour on documentation practices is also examined. Recommendations target KADP management and the Kebbi State government. Keywords: organisational culture, records management, agricultural development programme, Kebbi State, public administration
