Time Management Skills and Work Output of Administrative Assistants in Selected Hotels in Benin City, Edo State

This study examines the relationship between time management skills and work output among administrative assistants in selected hotels in Benin City, Edo State, in Nigeria's South South geopolitical zone. The hospitality industry demands high administrative precision and responsiveness, making time management a critical competency for support staff. Using a correlational survey design, the study targets administrative assistants, front office officers, and executive secretaries in eight hotels in Benin City. Structured questionnaires incorporating a validated time management inventory are used as the primary data collection tool. The study draws theoretical grounding from the Goal-Setting Theory and the Time Management Behaviour Model, with reference to literature from 2020 to 2024. Key time management dimensions investigated include task prioritisation, scheduling, delegation, and avoidance of time-wasting behaviours. Work output indicators include task completion rates, report accuracy, and supervisor-rated performance scores. Findings are expected to reveal a positive correlation between effective time management and administrative output.
