Digitisation of Student Academic Records and Its Effect on Service Delivery in Abia State University

This study examines the digitisation of student academic records and its effect on service delivery in Abia State University, Uturu, in Nigeria's South East geopolitical zone. Academic records management is central to university administration, directly affecting student certification, transcript processing, and institutional accreditation outcomes. Using a case study design, the study targets academic registry officers, ICT personnel, heads of departments, and a sample of final-year and postgraduate students. Structured questionnaires, user experience checklists, and system performance evaluation guides form the data collection toolkit. The TOE (Technology-Organisation-Environment) Framework and the Service Quality Model provide the theoretical foundation, supported by recent literature from 2020 to 2024 on digitisation in Nigerian universities. The study evaluates changes in processing speed, error rates, data accessibility, and student satisfaction before and after digitisation. It also investigates implementation challenges such as system downtime, staff resistance, and data migration errors. Recommendations target Abia State University management and the National Universities Commission.
