📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW
Project management capability (PMC) is theoretically linked to firm performance, yet the nature and strength of this relationship in Nigerian SMEs across sectors has not been empirically established. This study investigates the impact of PMC on firm performance in Nigerian SMEs across manufacturing, services, and construction sectors. A cross-sectional survey will recruit 300 SME owners, project managers, and operations directors from 100 SMEs registered with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), spread across Lagos, Kano, Enugu, and Abuja. PMC will be measured using the Project Management Capability Index (PMCI) assessing knowledge, tools, and process dimensions. Firm performance will be measured through revenue growth, project completion rates, and customer satisfaction. Structural equation modeling will test the PMC-performance model. This multi-sector, multi-geographic design provides a comprehensive empirical foundation for SMEDAN's project management capacity-building strategy and contributes to the PM-firm performance literature from a developing economy context.
