Office Information System Adequacy and Decision-Making Quality in Adamawa State Water Board

This study assesses the adequacy of office information systems and their influence on decision-making quality in the Adamawa State Water Board, within Nigeria's North East geopolitical zone. In public utility organisations, the quality and timeliness of management information directly determines the effectiveness of operational and strategic decisions. The research employs a case study design, targeting senior administrative officers, information system operators, and departmental managers within the Water Board. Structured questionnaires and decision documentation review guides serve as data collection instruments. The Management Information Systems (MIS) Theory and the Rational Decision-Making Model provide the theoretical framework, supported by literature published between 2020 and 2024. The study specifically examines the reliability, relevance, timeliness, and completeness of information generated by existing office systems. It also evaluates decision-making outcomes in areas where information system failures have been documented. Recommendations target the Adamawa State Ministry of Water Resources and relevant federal agencies. This study contributes to the limited literature on MIS application in Nigerian public utility management.
