Application of Agile Project Management in Nigerian Fintech Companies: Challenges and Best Practices in Lagos

📖 ABSTRACT/OVERVIEW

Agile project management has become the dominant methodology in fintech product development globally, yet its contextual application challenges within Nigeria's growing fintech ecosystem remain underexamined. This study investigates the application of agile project management in Nigerian fintech companies in Lagos State, South West Nigeria. A mixed-methods design will recruit 130 product managers, Scrum masters, developers, and project leads from 15 fintech companies in the Lagos fintech hub, including Paystack, Flutterwave, and PiggyVest. Quantitative data will assess agile framework adoption, sprint performance metrics, and delivery outcomes through a structured questionnaire. Qualitative data from 12 in-depth interviews will explore implementation challenges and emerging best practices. Descriptive statistics and thematic analysis will present findings. Evidence from Nigerian fintech suggests that while Scrum adoption is widespread, localized challenges including regulatory change frequency, talent attrition, and internet infrastructure instability create unique agile adaptation needs. Findings will contribute best-practice guidance for agile coaches and CTOs in Nigeria's fintech sector. Keywords: agile project management, fintech, Lagos, Scrum, product development
