Project Lifecycle Management and Organizational Efficiency in Power Sector Projects in the South East Geopolitical Zone

Effective project lifecycle management ensures that projects transition smoothly from initiation through closure, with accountability maintained at each phase. This study examines project lifecycle management practices and organizational efficiency in power sector projects in the South East geopolitical zone of Nigeria. A cross-sectional survey will recruit 140 project engineers, project directors, and regulatory officers from the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) and embedded generation project developers operating in Enugu, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, and Abia States. A structured questionnaire will assess lifecycle management completeness across initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and closure phases. Organizational efficiency will be measured through project throughput rates, resource utilization scores, and stakeholder satisfaction. Multiple regression will identify lifecycle phase weaknesses most strongly associated with inefficiency. Nigerian power sector project evidence highlights inadequate commissioning planning and project closure documentation as persistent lifecycle management gaps. Findings will support EEDC and power project developers in adopting structured lifecycle management frameworks.
